How can I tell whether a server has the tutorial on?

The tag appears in the list here, and the server's own page shows it among its flags and tags. A server can also carry "tutorial" in its name without the tag, which is why both are matched. If neither is present, the introductory island is not offered.

Does the tutorial island affect the main map?

No. The island is a separate starting area, and the main map runs its normal rules throughout. Your gather rate, team limit and wipe schedule are the same ones you meet after you finish. Nothing you build on the island carries over to the map.

Why do tutorial servers appear so high in population?

Several official servers keep the tutorial enabled, and they are large by default. The count you see includes everyone on the main map, not only players on the island. Check the population history on a server page before assuming the activity is from new players.

When do the servers on this list wipe?

Each server sets its own cycle, so there is no single date for this list. Force wipes affect all servers together, while map wipes follow the individual schedule. Use the wipe schedule page or a server's own page for the next recorded time.
